Fix Sciatica, Understand Sciatica, Keep Sciatica Away from You.

Sciatica can elicit a variety of feelings depending on your experience, education etc. It can be a scary life ending word, or a distant barely understood term.

If you’re here, I’m sure there is a good chance YOU need a solution to sciatica, I encourage you to try this video – and then come back and learn all about it when you feel a bit better. It’s not medical advice, your discretion.

I’ve helped well over 150 people with this series, including a couple celebrities and an Olympic Hurdler.

What is Sciatica?

Sciatica can exhibit a variety of different symptoms, at different areas of the body, and sometimes the other large nerve (femoral) can be impinged instead, causing issues down the inside of the leg (less common, doesn’t have a name) can include

  • Pain down the leg, or at any particular point or joint
  • Numbness, burning tingling
  • Sharp pains
  • Weakness
  • Stiffness
  • Tightness
  • Disease

Common points of pain include

  • Outside 3 toes
  • Outside calf
  • Upper hamstring
  • Sacrum, hip
  • Entire leg

The short answer – A physical structure in your body whanging up you nerve at some point, which ultimately cannot be improved unless the position is improved and the tension is eased.

Good news, that’s pretty easy!

Your nerves are like hoses, crimps and kinks can cause issues downstream. Many pains are nerve pains that are not necessarily originated from the painful area. I have heard this many times for many years, observing this happen dozens of times over has taught me how deep and meaningful that statement is!

Aristotle supposedly said, If you would find health, look to the spine – I believe he could not have been more right.

I want to share a story with you to illustrate my point. A young man, heavy man 250 ish, gets into a bad car wreck and comes to our clinic. Has terrible back pain initially, we set him up. By the way, I was a ‘therapist’ at the clinic and we did not have dedicated patients, they were assigned based on availability. So he goes home, and the next time he comes in, his back is FINE. His KNEE is on fire, he can’t walk at all and is completely miserable. Well, I only see him once during this period of nearly a month. He is not walking, deteriorating, can’t work, fair attitude. Seeing us 3x a week I think. I see him again, and start him off with balancing his pelvis and setting up his spine and his knee is better. I convince the doctor to focus all his therapies on his back to work the next week. The impingement in his back, was asymptomatic, however it was causing an immense referral response to his knee. Nerve becomes free, pain dissipates.

Coming back down to earth now, you need to unkink and tangle your hoses and organize your hose holders so you don’t have the issue. Balance your pelvis, get the hips muscles working together and your nerves will stop telling you youre in pain, and begin to heal.  Sciatica is invariably, a physical interaction with your nerve somewhere near your low back or around your sacrum. If it’s one leg, there is an opportunity for it to be near the hip joint in addition to those previously mentioned. I’ve seen only once a sciatica presentation that originated in the calf.

If you are having symptoms on both legs, you are experiencing an issue where those 2 nerves meet or above. These principles are generalizable for all nerve issues, and nerve issues account for a large majority of musculoskeletal problems. If you are wondering if you have “sciatica”, do the attivitas anyways because it’s free and fast and helps.

The cool thing, no matter what your issue is – restoring the position and function of your hips and pelvis will cause your body to restore the position of the nerve and can often provide near instant relief.

There are a couple gnarlier things that can cause sciatic symptoms involving disc injuries and syndrome, but if you are not having low back symptoms with your sciatica, it is less likely to be a complicated problem. If it has progressed a long time and is debilitating it may take a few weeks or a month of maintaining a good position, function, etc to allow the body to heal itself of the inflammation.

Nerves dont have a blood supply so the ability to remove inflammation is slow, when a nerve is very upset it can take longer for it to feel better if the damage is deeper than a tension/position issue. Without restoring the position, damage continues to occur and ultimately you cannot get better.

So to recap my main points

“Sciatica” is really just a nerve issue caused by a physical change in the nerve by an outside structure, it is not a disease, or a syndrome.

Nerve pain exhibits lots of ways, and causes issues ‘downstream’ the nerve. Ex, Neck issue, elbow pain.

There is no regular interval, it will improve or worsen as the position and health of your body does

It can be eliminated with practice of simple techniques and some bio-ergonomics.

You will find exactly what you need to do in my video, I hope this helps you understand sciatica and nerve pain better. As you gain wellness, consider taking your posture management further and pursuing higher levels of physical health!
